A court has rejected the bail of popular Dhaka film actress Nusrat Faria and ordered her to be sent to jail in a murder attempt case filed by the capital’s Bhatara Police Station for her anti-discrimination movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sarah Farzana Haque ordered her to be sent to jail on Monday.
The actress was produced in court at around 9 am today and kept in the CMM court’s jail. She was taken to the courtroom during the hearing.
The investigation officer of the case, Bhatara Police Station Sub-Inspector Billal Bhuiyan, requested her to be detained in jail.
Earlier, on Sunday, immigration police detained her while she was flying to Thailand on a Bangladesh Biman flight. Later, she was handed over to Bhatara Police Station. There is an attempt to murder case against her in Bhatara Police Station.
In August 2024, a man named Enamul was beaten and shot to death in the name of suppressing the anti-discrimination movement. Later, when the Awami League government fell, Enamul Haque filed a case at Bhatara Police Station on the court’s order.
17 stars including Apu Biswas, Asna Habib Bhabna, Nusrat Faria, actor Zayed Khan were accused in the murder attempt case.
In addition, 283 people associated with former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her government and three to four hundred unidentified people have been accused in the case.
It is worth noting that Nusrat Faria made her big screen debut in 2015 with the Bangladesh-India joint production film ‘Aashiqui’. In 2023, she played the role of Sheikh Hasina in the film ‘Mujib: Ekti Qaari Rupkar’ directed by Shyam Benegal. Apart from that, she is active in modeling and directing.
