Dhaka: The Immigration Police has detained film actress Nusrat Faria in Dhaka. She is currently being interrogated at the Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Branch (DB) office.
However, the process of showing Nusrat Faria, the accused in the case of attempted murder of a student in the capital’s Bhatara area during the anti-discrimination movement, is underway, the police said.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the capital’s Bhatara police station (OC) Mazharul Islam gave this information on Sunday (May 18).
He said that she has not been shown arrested yet. It is under process. It is expected that she will be shown arrested.
In response to a question, he said that no decision has been made regarding remand yet. Nothing can be said right now for the sake of investigation.
This afternoon, Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner (DB-North) Rabiul Hossain Bhuiyan confirmed this information.
He said that she was brought to the DB office from Bhatara police station at around 4 pm. He is being interrogated. Detailed information on this will be provided later.
Earlier in the afternoon, the immigration police detained him while he was flying to Thailand on a Bangladesh Biman flight. Later, he was handed over to the Bhatara Police Station.
It is learned that there is a case against Nusrat Faria at the Bhatara Police Station for attempted murder during the 2024 anti-discrimination movement. In the case, he has been mentioned as a financial provider of the Awami League for taking a stand against the anti-discrimination movement.
