Star players from Bangladesh gave an unprecedented victory in the BOB Bhutan Women’s National League. Paro Women’s Football Club scored 28 goals in the match. 23 of which were scored by four Bangladeshi footballers Sabina Khatun, Monica Chakma, Rituparna Chakma and Sumaiya Matsushima.

Paro also kept a clean sheet despite the flood of goals scored by the opponent. The match result was 28-0. No other team had won such a big victory in the Bhutan Women’s National League before. 23 of the 28 goals came from the feet of these four Bangladeshi footballers.

Former captain of the Bangladesh national team Sabina Khatun scored 9 goals alone, showing her well-known cool-headed finishing and perfect vision in front of the goal. Sabina started the match’s goal celebration in the ninth minute of the match. Then, in the 20th minute, Monica’s second goal broke the dam. Paro went into the break with 9 goals in just 21 minutes in the first half with a 10–0 lead.

In the second half, the Bangladeshi girls became even more devastating. Sabina scored her sixth goal of the day in the 64th minute, breaking the previous record of the highest win (15–0). Even then, the goal rain did not stop—Paro ended the match with a 28–0 lead by scoring 12 more goals.

Two Bhutanese players, Sonam Chomo and Sonam Choki Tamang, completed this historic scoreline with one goal each. Earlier, on the first day of the league, Bangladeshi striker Krishna Rani Sarkar scored two goals for her team Transport United, in their 8–0 win over U-17 Gelefu Academy.

On the other hand, Maria Manda, Sanjida Khatun and Shamsunnahar featured for Thimphu City WFC, who defeated Ugyen Academy 4–2 to clinch the league’s opening match.
